Thank you for visiting the John Paul II Roman Catholic School website. I trust that you will find this website informative and that it gives you a good insight into the educational opportunities available at the school.

Our motto is, "Achievement for Life" and I believe that this motto must translate into action. Achievement is crucial to success and we ensure that every single day is a new learning experience for all children who come to this school.
I am proud to lead this school and I have a very simple and clear aim: to ensure that every child exceeds their potential through positive learning experiences every day.
John Paul II Year 10 students win prestigious Deutsche Bank Young Enterprise Award. Read the full story

The Autumn and Spring Terms have been hugely successful for John Paul II School.
The biggest event was probably the Ofsted inspection where the school was identified as being "in the top 5% nationally for making outstanding progress". The rest of the Ofsted report was equally complimentary and is well worth a read. You can view the outstanding
report here.
The learning and progress of our students in all years is of paramount importance and we are tracking this very closely. We are particularly proud of our Year 11 students, many of whom have already passed their GCSEs in English and maths - 26% of our Year 11 students already have A* - C grades in English and maths. A further 9% have a pass in either English or maths.
The story of success does not stop with the Year 11s. Our Year 10s are awaiting the results of the English GCSE papers that they took in January - we are confident that they will be good.
The year so far has been packed with events: six numeracy days, a three day enterprise event, a Prefects' dinner, visits from other schools to learn from our good practice, charity events, cultural history events, performance of Hamlet at the Shakespeare Schools Festival, residential trip to Swanage, Kintbury residential, Royal Courts of Justice trips, Hampton Court visit, celebrating Mass with the Pope and retreats (to name but a few).
The learning environment has been dramatically improved with the opening of the Learning Hub and ICT suite, a refurbished computer room on the top floor and the Learning Access Base all designed to improve learning opportunities.
In addition, we have the most comprehensive Enrichment programme with 23 after school activities all on offer to students. The programme demonstrates our students' eagerness and motivation to learn, and is a tribute to the outstanding progress made by all staff and students
The recent successes at JPII have been recognised by the Department of Education and a letter received from Professor David Woods can be viewed
here. In addition the Head of Riddlesdown Collegiate, an outstanding school in Surrey, sent the letter that can be seen
here. Nick Gibb the Minister of State for Schools has recognised the outstanding progress made by JPII and sent this
letter.
Best wishes
